Assessment and openness

Research-based knowledge plays a key role in society. To ensure that it can be used as widely as possible, it must be high-quality, open and reliable. Scholarly publishing, open science and responsible research assessment are therefore essential parts of the research system.

Open science and responsible assessment support the research community in many ways. Open science practices increase the transparency and accessibility of research, while responsible assessment aims to recognise research quality in a comprehensive and equitable manner. High-quality scholarly publishing ensures that research findings are communicated reliably to the research community and society.

TSV develops these areas in collaboration with research organisations, learned societies and other stakeholders. We maintain the classification of publication channels and recommendations for responsible research assessment, support Finnish scholarly publishing and coordinate the national development of open science. Our aim is to promote high-quality, open and impactful research.
