Bringing the scientific community together and developing it

The Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV) includes 298 scientific societies and four scientific academies. The members represent a wide range of disciplines and academia. The broad group of members provides TSV with the opportunity to identify common issues for the scientific community, bring together different perspectives and promote shared solutions.

Cooperation across disciplines and organisational boundaries

We offer an independent environment for cooperation where the representatives of different disciplines and organisations can discuss common issues. Our work is based on openness, expertise and cooperation.

Together with our members:

  • we prepare common policies for the scientific community
  • we gather experts for working groups and networks
  • we organise events and discussions on topical issues
  • we introduce the views of the scientific community to national and international cooperation.

Working groups and panels

Experts from different fields discuss current issues of the scientific community and prepare common policies through working groups and panels. They provide us with an opportunity to examine matters from several perspectives and to create carefully considered solutions.

Cooperation networks

Cooperation networks bring together actors of the scientific community and wider society to discuss common topics. The networks share information, strengthen cooperation and promote jointly agreed objectives.
