Publication Forum panels

The Publication Forum's 23 assessment panels of individual disciplines evaluate scientific publication channels and determine their levels. Find out more about the panel members, their areas of responsibility, and meeting memoranda. The term of the current panels is 2025–2028.

Publication channels are assessed by the research community

The panel members comprise nearly 300 researchers and other scholarly publishing experts in total from universities and research institutes operating in Finland. They evaluate publication channels as experts in their own fields of science and research. The panels carry out their assessment work through the JUFO portal and at panel meetings. In particular, the panels come together for update reviews.

The Publication Forum's Steering Group appoints the panels and monitors the assessment work. Persons with experience in research, scholarly publishing and research assessment are selected as panellists. The representation of different research organisations, researchers' career stages and genders are also accounted for in the selections. The panels are composed ensuring that their expertise covers the disciplines for which they are responsible. The disciplines for which each panel is responsible correspond to Statistics Finland's Fields of Science 2010 classification.

Panel 24: Multidisciplinary

Panel 24 is multidisciplinary

Panel 24 is common to all panels. It covers all book publishers and a small group of multidisciplinary journals. Rather than panel 24 having dedicated members, members of all panels can participate in assessing these publication channels. Book publishers and multidisciplinary journals are assessed separately as individual entities and using separate assessment lists. Based on assessments, the Secretariat confirms the levels of publication channels assessed by panel 24.
